Bioremediation Products

System:  BTI  uses a system known as the ERS BioEnhancement System (BES) comprised of a unique proprietary nutrient, (N1) and a specially selected, naturally occurring, highly aggressive blend of microorganisms (B1). The microorganisms are grown on site using a unique activation protocol that eliminates rejection by the indigenous organisms.  By brewing on site massive quantities of microorganisms can be applied to the soil or groundwater.

Nutrient N1:  Nutrients are the major product cost element of bioremediation.  The N1 nutrient is designed to reduce cost and enhance biodegradation.  N1 is a non-water soluble polymer that sticks to petroleum hydrocarbons (PHC) upon contact.  N1 overcomes the major cause of nutrient depletion typical of water–soluble nutrient, ie flushing by water and/or competition by non-beneficial indigenous organisms. Due to its polymerized structure, N1 releases only to the B1 microorganism, which are selected for their unique ability to break down this polymer in addition to PHC’s.  This limited release feature prevents the possible growth of indigenous toxic organisms.  As a result far less N1 product is required to degrade a given volume of PHC’s resulting in cost savings.

B1 Microorganisms:  B1’s strains of naturally occurring bacteria have been selected for their aggressive consumption of alkanes up to C45 and some PAHs.  They possess the unique ability to access the N1 nutrients, allowing them to become the dominant organism population.  Densities in excess of 109 CFUs per volume can be sustained thus promoting a greater frequency of contact with PHC molecules.
